How to Tie Dye

Soda Ash
Sodium Carbonate is a white powder that you dissolve in warm water. Presoak your shirt in the soda ash water to bond the dye to the fibers. See how to use soda ash for tie dye, to fully set the dye color.
Rinsing tie dye
When you rinse your tie dye for the first time, make sure you wait 24 hours. It needs to sit this long to lock in the color. When it's time, start by rinsing in the sink with cold water. Then gradually turn the water temperature to hot. You can let it soak in hot water to help release more excess dye before throwing it in the washing machine. Always move fresh tie dyed shirts from the washer to the dryer promptly so they don't transfer color to other items.
